Designed in collaboration with FK Australia and developed by Gurner, the project comprises three distinct volumes conjoined by a glazed cube. Embracing its coastal environment via meticulous attention to plant selection, it incorporates resilient species such as Californian Fan Palms and evergreen varieties that require minimal maintenance yet look stunning year-round.
The design intentionally blurs the line between residential and commercial spaces, integrating lush planters at the street interface and community-oriented amenities that invite residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors. Notably, a striking sculpture by the artist duo Aludean graces the entry as a contemporary nod to the site’s heritage. Complimenting it are reflective ponds that enhance tranquility, creating a luxurious resort-style atmosphere that sets Saint Moritz apart from typical Melbourne developments.
The project’s curated landscape extends from the ground plane up the podium, featuring Hil’s Fig trees, Philodendrons, Star Jasmine, Indian Hawthorns and Trailing Junipers. Unique penthouses closest to the water include pools, one with an acrylic bottom that serves also as a dramatic light source to the apartment below.
Saint Moritz embodies a commitment to thoughtful design and sustainability, referencing and revitalising the coastal St Kilda waterfront context. The landscape has shaped a new level of amenity for residents while significantly beautifying the adjacent public realm.
