Featuring a remarkable 300m² rooftop terrace on the 44th floor, this project blends lush green spaces with modern design, creating a distinctive residential oasis. Emphasising rounded, organic forms, the penthouse's design harmonises with the building's aesthetic while effectively tackling issues like wind exposure and privacy.
A thoughtful layout includes a three-metre glazed windscreen and modular plantings, ensuring the terrace’s usability throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions, without compromising breathtaking views across Melbourne. The carefully selected planting palette features resilient species such as Japanese Black Pines and Virginia Creeper, enhancing visual appeal and ecological sustainability. Miss Muffet Pittosporum, Star Jasmine and Indian Hawthorns define separate habitats visually distinguished by cyclical seasonal flowering. Textural contrast is informed by fragrant Gardenias, Rosemary, and Dwarf Mondo Grass bordering stepping stones and complemented by large pots containing Fine-leaf Box Plants and Japanese Red Pines. Dwarf Philodendron ‘Xanadu’ thrives in shaded areas thanks to diligent maintenance. The design integrates diverse hardscape materials, including neutral porcelain tiles, dramatic Atelier Vierkant pots and formed concrete elements. Furnishings from Paolo Lenti further enrich this inviting space while addressing the client’s desire for significant green space in a lock-up-and-leave lifestyle, exemplifying a commitment to impactful urban landscapes.
